Depth: 40+
Level: Advanced
The Bells is located just 200m north of the Blue Hole (see below). It is a crack in the reef wall going down to a depth of about 30m, from where the wall drops into endless blue.
Get into the water at the little pool on top of the reef (see picture to left), and drop straight down along the crack. When you face the open side of the crack, you will see just clear blue water. On your way down have a look what's living on its wall, you might find Pipefish, Nudibranches and other small creatures. You can exit the crack at any time until you reach a vertical swimthrough at about 25m. Most divers take it head first, as it is just amazing what you see when you get out of it: It is just blue everywhere. When you exit the crack at about 30m remember to inflate you BCD to stop your descent and make yourself neutral. There is nothing below that might stop you when you forget to do this!
From here, follow the wall going South with the reef on your right. You will find a rich reef life including Pipefish, Lionfish, Fairy Basslets, Gorgonian Seafans, Bigeyes, Anemones, Clownfish and many more. If you are lucky you might come across a turtle. There is no reason for staying at depth too long, as the wall is just as impressive no matter how shallow you are. Continue along the wall getting shallower until you reach the outer rim of the Blue Hole at about 5m. You should definitely spend some time here, as the coral and the reef life is just amazing. Cross the rim into the Blue Hole and swim either to the right or to the left along its inner wall until you see lots of snorkellers above you. On your ascent you might have to watch out not to bump into one of them. On some days they mark the entry/exit point ;-)
